"I took the train from Potosi down to Oruro, a comfortable ride in a modern diesel rail car. While on the train I got talking to a student, and when we reached Oruru he took me to visit an American mission where he had been learning English. Mr and Mrs Thompson, running the mission, were pleased to meet me and invited me to stay with them for a few days. It’s always interesting to meet outsiders living in a country and get their impression and experiences of that country. It was an enjoyable stay and I am glad to say we have been able to keep in touch ever since, even though we have both changed addresses a few times." - MH
