"Back in Argentina again at the small town of Pocitos, I was waiting in a cafe for an evening bus south to Embarcacion, when again I was approached by a plain clothed policeman and I had to go along to the station. There was no trouble, but by the time I was freed I had missed the bus. The chief, sorry for my inconvenience, arranged with a company who had a truck going the same way, for me to be given a lift. So I got there OK, all be it a few hours later, not that it made much difference, as the train I had planned to catch next morning was delayed for two days because of damage due to heavy rain further down the track. 
 
About 40 yards down the street from my small hotel in Embarcacion was a crossroads, on the buildings on 3 of the 4 corners were loud speakers relaying different music and adverts. The sound was just terrible and went on all day, but only I seemed to be troubled by it. There did not seem to be much to do in the town 'till on the third morning I met an English lady who was helping to run a mission on the dge of town and invited me back with her. I spent an enjoyable last day talking with the others there and hearing all about the country’s problems.
 
I got the train that evening down to Formosa, an uneventful journey except for one station where there were hundreds of large frogs, some over six inches across, and so tame I was able to pick them up and they just sat on my hand and looked at me. At Formosa the next morning, I got the bus up to the border and crossed into Paraguay.
