"Painting of the ruined church with some of the weavers' makeshift huts, which they had set up after the earthquake.
The following afternoon, after a few more enjoyable hours spent in Antigua, I took a bus out to a small town about 6 miles away. This town which had been badly shaken by an earthquake only a few months before, seemed to be coping surprisingly well when I considered the damage. I really had to admire these cheerful people after seeing the difficult conditions they were having to live under.
I returned to the hotel in Antigua for the night, leaving early the following morning so I could catch a midday domestic flight from Guatemala City to Las Flores. This flight, which I had managed to book at a travel agents in Antigua, cost me £20 and I figured would save me a very tiring bus ride as well as a bit of time, something I was beginning to run out of quite fast." - MH
