"On reaching Tissisat my so-called guide told me I would have to go with another guide that met us as we got off the bus, to go the last mile or so to the Falls. As I had not been enjoying his company I was quite relieved. The walk we took was along what had been the old road to Gondar and passed over a 17th century stone bridge before zigzagging up a hill past a small village, then on rounding the side of the hill the Falls came into view. Though not at their best, due to it being the end of the dry season, I still found these Falls impressive. My new guide not only spoke better English, but was a much more pleasant person all round. When I said I wanted to paint the picture above he happily sat and watched. On our way back I stopped to paint a picture of the village, and though some of the villagers came to watch, my guide saw to it that my view was not obstructed, and I had noproblems. It had been a real pleasure for me to be able to paint under such pleasant conditions, and on our return to Tissisat I was quite happy to pay the guide the small fee he asked for." - MH
