Yaunghwe, which was the main town in the area was situated on an island 5km to the north of the actual lake surrounded by floating fields and linked to the lake proper by a wide canal.
On my arrival in the town I soon got fixed up with a room at the main guest house, then lost no time in setting off to have a look round, eager to see more of this interesting place and start to do a bit of painting.
Despite being a fairly busy town, especially in the area of the market and along the canal, I found it a very relaxing place to be" - MH
