"Despite the bus I chose being almost full we waited almost an hour for one more passenger before setting off. Having got under way our driver drove like every second counted, and we covered the 100 or so miles to Dakar in about 5 hours. It cost me £10. I had a number of journeys like this one while on the trip, and though I found the rides themselves quite exciting, I often found myself getting irritated at the unnecessary hanging about beforehand." - MH
