"The flight, that took about 2 1/5hrs, arrived at Guayaquil at 3:00am. There was little to do except sit around the airport, though I was able to get a coffee at the all-night cafeteria by paying US dollars. The change, in local money, enabled me to take the first local bus into town. Guayaquil at 6:30am seemed a fairly pleasant place, though somewhat rundown. As this city of over a million population started to warm up it got very hot and sticky, making walking round pretty exhausting I found." - MH
