"Kirinda villagers collecting water from a nearby well.

As I felt I had seen all I wanted of Kataragama on the evening of my arrival, I decided to take a bus on the following morning down to Kirinda, a fishing village on the coast, just to see what it was like. It turned out to be a good decision, for though the village had little of special interest, the fact that it was completely unspoiled gave it a delightful charm all of its own, which had there been somewhere to stay I may well have been tempted to stop for another day." - MH
