"The morning market in Kalaw where the local farmers brought their produce for sale. This painting was worked up from a photo and a quick sketch I made at the time.
Like Maymyo, Kalaw had also been a popular hill station during the British days and still seemed to retain much of it’s old atmosphere. I guess the reason for so many people here speaking English was due to this strong British presence in the past" - MH
