"The 16 miles to La Palma the next morning made for an even easier ride than the previous day. Another very pleasant route with much of it passing through a national park, although it was the small farmsteads I found most attractive. Even with a few stops to sketch I still managed to arrive by 11:30.
La Palma turned out to be about the most rundown and dreary looking town I was to visit in Cuba, so finding that the hotel not only had a room, but one with an A.C. that worked, came as a real relief, 'tho for some reason I had to go to an office in the next street to check in. The hotel cost me $15, the most I paid anywhere in Cuba for accommodation." - MH
