The foundations of the medieval St Matthews Church date back to the 14th century. It was later rebuilt in a classical style in the 18th century. Set on the banks of Rutland Water the top of the church was saved by the public and a new floor and causeway installed. It is extremely  popular, cared for once again, and Rutland’s most famous landmark.
