"By midday it was very hot again and I was glad to find a shady spot under a large tree where I could make a sketch of one of the many gates to this old walled city.
Later I called in on the government Tourist Office, where they had a very large fan blower which really made the place cool, and I was invited to stay as long as I wanted. They did not have a lot of information to give me, but it was nice to sit in the cool for an hour.
In the evening I called at the local Youth Hostel just to see what it was like. The friendly lady warden seemed pleased to show me round the new and quite modsern building, and I would not have minded stopping there had it not been for the convenience of my Tourist Hotel." - MH
