Whalley Viaduct or "Whalley Arches" as it is known crosses the River Calder with it’s superb 49 arches. The viaduct is Grade 2 listed and a brilliant example of Victorian engineering. Built by the Blackburn and Bolton railway company it took 4 years to build with a 340 strong workforce and was completed in 1850.
